A diamond's cut is arguably the most important of the 4Cs, as it has the greatest influence on the stone's overall sparkle, brilliance, and fire. When we talk about cut, we aren't referring to the shape of the diamond (like round or oval), but rather the quality of how the diamond's facets interact with light.
Proportions & Symmetry
Master cutters at Ratnakar evaluate the proportions, symmetry, and polish of every diamond. If a diamond is cut too shallow, light leaks out of the bottom. If it is cut too deep, light escapes from the side. An ideal cut reflects almost all light back through the top of the diamond, creating that mesmerizing sparkle.
The Cut Grades
- Super Ideal / Ideal: The top 3% of diamonds. Maximizes brilliance and fire.
- Excellent / Very Good: Represents the top 15% of diamonds. Offers exceptional sparkle at a slightly lower price point.
- Good: Top 25% of diamonds. Reflects most light that enters.
- Fair & Poor: We do not offer diamonds with these grades, as they appear dull and glassy.
